Empower enables people with disabilities to access computer technology, the programme is curriculum led and includes word processing, graphics, music, internet and email use. The Courses are provided at the Mencap Centre and Link Up by Newbury College Tutors. Users are able to study for nationally recognized qualifications if they choose to.

Empower started in 2001 at the Mencap Centre with 2 classes a week. There are now 9 classes a week and it is an extremely popular course. People with no previous experience of the internet are now sending emails, researching their family history and surfing the web with confidence. Some pupils have sent along other members of their family to join in as well.
