West Berkshire Mencap has been running services for children with learning disabilities for 20 years. The first Playscheme began in 1984. In the year 2000 West Berkshire Mencap appointed its first Childrens' Officer to develop the services offered to children with learning disabilities. West Berkshire Mencap now employs two full time Childrens' officers and several part time staff. They run services covering the Summer and Easter holidays, Saturdays and after school clubs. The Children's officers role within the organisation is to develop and provide services for children with learning disabilities and their families. Please speak to the Children's Officer about any ideas or needs you have concerning activities and services that would benefit you and your family.

We seek to continually develop and improve current services; once a need has been identified we can work on trying to meet that need, this is how all present services have developed.
